Board Certified & Fellowship Trained Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon

Dr. Kilcoyne is a fellowship trained, board certified, shoulder and elbow surgeon. He has over 20 years of experience as an Orthopedic Surgeon, and served over 17 years as an Active Duty Orthopedic Surgeon in the U.S. Army. He specializes in all problems of the shoulder and elbow including rotator cuff tears, arthritis, shoulder dislocations, fractures, labral tears, biceps injuries and tears. He sees pediatric, adolescent and adult patients for all upper extremity fractures and sports related injuries.

Dr. Kilcoyne earned his undergraduate degree from Washington University in Saint Louis and earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He completed his orthopedic residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and then completed a subspecialty fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Kilcoyne spent his time in the army caring for our nation’s best – including soldiers, sailors, marine and airmen of all ranks. He has served the White House, members of Congress, and the Nation’s top military leaders. He was deployed as part of a Forward Surgical Team during 3 combat tours in Afghanistan and the Middle East. During his time at Walter Reed he served as both a national and international referral source for the most complex shoulder and elbow injuries within the military. Dr. Kilcoyne holds the title of Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He has received several research awards and grants, with over 50 shoulder and elbow related publications in peer reviewed journals and text books.
